Kumano Kodo

There are only two World Heritage Roads in the world.
The Kodo(“old ways”) are a key part of the region’s World Heritage designation and have been in use for over 1000 years. Walking along this path, I somehow feel sacred.
The air is pure, and surrounded by stone tatammi mats and bamboo groves, you will feel peaceful and calm, and it is said that your doubts and worries will disappear.
There are signs warning visitors to beware of black bears.  Please be careful!
